Happy Columbus Day Weekend! I want to share a fresh take on how I pack my bag for a holiday weekend getaway! It's a little different, but give it a try sometime!
1. Before I do anything, I will google the town I'm visiting. This helps me grasp the general vibe of the place so that I can put my own unique spin on my looks.
Cape May, New Jersey. General vibe: beach casual.
2. Make a list. Mine looks like this (see below). I list out the days, activities, and weather. Then I list the general plan for the day and what sort of outfits I'll need. This leaves more room for creativity.
I usually start with the dinner and brunch outfits. This helps me think of 3-4 outfits right out of the gate! Look up the dress codes of the restaurants you'll be visiting via Open Table-or search for Google images of the inside of the establishment.
The restaurants I'm going to:
The Rusty Nail on Friday night (casual and outside)-Light wash AG jeans, a v-neck Z Supply t-shirt, Tod's brown leather mules, and an ivory JCrew light sweater.
I call Friday my "wild card" day. After a crazy week I don't want to think about much. I usually just want to hang out, get a nice dinner, and relax. This is why I'll wear my travel outfit on that Friday night, but I'll change my shoes. Shoes can completely freshen up an outfit!
I like to wear the bulkiest item when I travel so it doesn't take up space in my bag (plus I'll be taking the ferry and it's chilly on the water!) If it's too hot then tie it around your waist!
This JCrew sweater is a classic!!!
I take two pairs of jeans with me on most trips. Light and dark. I love these AG cropped jeans!
I love my black on black low top converse. I have a little slice of tomboy in me, so they work. Plus, they are super comfortable!
410 Bank Street on Saturday night (casual and elegant)-Frame jeans, James Perse Lightweight turtleneck (roll that on up in your weekender), Tod's mules, cute belt, and statement earrings!
A black turtleneck is elegant. My cropped mini boot dark jeans are casual, but a step up from the light wash. My mules make the outfit more sophisticated and my earrings are a fresh pop!
Turtlenecks are a great space saver- roll them up!
I like to spice my outfits up with a belt.
Taking these FRAME jeans through a few outfits on this trip!!!
These Madewell earrings are so unique. I love them! I can wear them to brunch, and all three dinners!
The Mad Batter on Sunday for Brunch (casual)-Frame Jeans jeans, TOPSHOP top, and Tod's Mules. I'll be tucking this top in, buttoning it up to the top, and belting it.
Loving embroidery. This TOPSHOP shirt is perfect for my brunch!
I literally wear these Tod's mules with everything
Peter Shields on Sunday night (elegant)-Long sleeve maxi Free People dress and brown leather Tod's mules. You'll be surprised at how many different ways you can wear mules.
This dress is beachy and elegant. It's the perfect example of how you can look sexy without showing too much skin!
Obsessed with this Free People maxi. You can roll it up :)
3. Next I'll look at the rest of my schedule and create outfits from the four that I already have, and fill in the gaps with what I am missing.
Travel Outfit- I always wear the same pants on the way there and the way back. In this case it'll be the light wash AG Jeans. I love light wash jeans because they are super casual. I also love them with ivory. It's a very clean look.
Z Supply is a great t-shirt brand. I will typically bring the same shirt in two colors for the trip up and back!
ZSupply T-Shirts are great staples!
Spa Outfit/Casual Outfit. Long sleeve James Perse t-shirt, Lululemon joggers, and black leather low top converse.
It's nice to have these items to throw on if you want to run down to the lobby for coffee or go for a walk. They are also the perfect pieces to wear to the spa!
James Perse has the most comfy shirts!
Lululemon Joggers! Not too loose, not too tight!
PJ's!-Lastly, bring a matching set of PJS. You'll sleep like a baby! These are my FAVORITE!!!!
