Last Night's Hair Volume 101

Last night, my husband and I had a date night to our favorite Mexican restaurant! I wanted big hair, but I only had about an hour to shower, dry my hair, put on makeup, get dressed and (most importantly) feed the dogs/take them out!

Here I have provided a few tips that'll help you get out the door with a beautiful bouncy mane in less than 15 minutes.

Let's whip out the tool box!

The Brush. I've been using this Phillips Monster Vent Brush for 15 years. The 5" is great for long wavy hair (like mine). You can insert the blow dryer into the center to the brush for a quicker dry!

The Blow Dryer. The Harry Josh Tools Hair Dryer reduces hair drying time by 50%. I'm obsessed. Make sure you keep the nozzle on the dryer!!

A Bed. You'll understand shortly

Oribe. Great product. Look into it.

Step-by-Step Blow drying Process

After you towel dry and comb out your hair, climb onto your bed, lie on your back and rest your head over the edge! Using your hands as a brush, dry the hair 80%. Work the blow dryer from root to end for a smoother look.

After this, section your hair. I've learned that it's okay to take thick sections of hair, as long as you can fully dry the hair. I initially section my hair into two horizontal sections.

Next I will take 1 - 2 inch vertical sections within my first horizontal section. From the root to the end I will dry each section at a 90 degree angle from my scalp.

I divide the next horizontal section into two more horizontal sections, basically dividing my crown into two slices.

I dry these two sliced sections like this (see below)! The crown is where you focus on volume! I also do this on the sides because I like all over volume!

Next, grab a smaller brush and go back over these sections. Heat up the hair first by blow drying the section from root to end. Then roll under and hold for 5-10 seconds. This adds even more volume!!

Moving around to the front now! Part your hair and start with one of the two sides. Use the small brush to brush your hair over your head, opposite of where it falls. Blow dry. This adds volume! Repeat on the other side!

And again, roll under.

Add some texture spray to the crown!

Rub it in like this with the tips of your fingers!
